A brief introduction
I am an experienced educator with 15 years in secondary MFL teaching, including 7 years as Head of Department. I have a proven track record of planning learning schemes and leading a department to exceed national GCSE averages and consistently achieving comparatively high outcomes with my own students including A*/A grades. For the past 9 years, I have dedicated my energy towards my children who are in the last two years of primary school and intermittently working in temporary educational roles such as Spanish tutoring within a school setting. I pride myself on being exam-focused and adaptive, constantly refining my pedagogical strategies to build student confidence and drive academic success.
Tutoring Experience
2017 - current: Various temporary educational roles including NTP Spanish tutoring and learning supervisor at Darrick Wood School and Dartford Grammar for Girls.
2010-2017: Plumstead Manor School, Greenwich - Head of Languages
2008-2009: Sandwell Academy, West Bromwich - Curriculum Leader
2003-2008: Holy Trinity School, Birmingham - MFL Teacher
Teaching Method
Dependant on the situation and student, I use a variety of resources to introduce and practise language including texts, pictures, audio, sometimes songs if appropriate and of course exemplar and past exam papers and workbooks. I encourage speaking as much as possible, ensuring students grasp a good understanding of letter sounds and where intonation is needed.
