A brief introduction
I am a qualified Biology teacher (QTS) with eight years' experience teaching KS3, GCSE and A Level in leading UK schools. With a First Class Honours degree in Medical Research, published research experience, and current examiner roles for AQA and Edexcel, I combine deep subject expertise with exceptional exam insight. I specialise in making complex concepts clear, memorable and engaging, helping students build both confidence and top-level exam performance across a range of ages and current understanding levels.
Tutoring Experience
I currently teach Biology at a leading independent school in Surrey, where I deliver KS3, GCSE and A Level Biology and mentor Early Career Teachers. I also coordinate a medical preparation society, supporting aspiring medics with academic and application guidance.
Previously, I taught at a highly prestigious independent day school in London, contributing to curriculum development and assessment improvement. Alongside school teaching, I have provided private and agency tutoring since 2014, supporting students from 11+ through to university level.
In addition to classroom teaching, I am an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel, giving me detailed, up-to-date knowledge of mark schemes, assessment objectives and common student pitfalls.
Teaching Method
My teaching approach is built around clarity, structure and exam precision. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, using strong subject knowledge and research experience to ensure deep understanding rather than surface memorisation.
I place significant emphasis on exam technique — explicitly teaching students how to interpret command words, structure extended responses and maximise marks using examiner insight. Lessons are carefully tailored to each student, balancing conceptual understanding with targeted exam practice.
Above all, I aim to make learning engaging and intellectually stimulating. Through clear explanations, well-chosen analogies and structured questioning, I help students think like scientists — not just memorise content — so they can perform with confidence in high-pressure exam settings.
