A brief introduction
I am a highly experienced and dedicated English educator with over 15 years of teaching experience across international schools in the UAE. I hold a Master's degree in English Language Teaching and have worked extensively with students from primary through to secondary levels, including Grades 3–10.
Throughout my career, I have taken on both teaching and leadership roles, including Secondary English Teacher, Academic Coordinator, and KS3 Planning Lead. I have contributed to two consecutive Outstanding British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection outcomes and supported my school's progression from Good to Very Good in Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) inspections, with my own lessons consistently rated Outstanding for student engagement and questioning.
I am passionate about helping students build confidence in English, whether it is reading, writing, comprehension, or speaking. I strongly believe that every child can succeed when learning is personalised, engaging, and supportive. My experience with diverse learners, including EAL and SEN students, allows me to adapt lessons to suit individual needs effectively.
As an online tutor, I aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and are motivated to improve.
Tutoring Experience
I bring over 15 years of rich classroom and leadership experience in teaching English across primary and secondary levels (Grades 3–10).
In my current role as a Secondary English Teacher and KS3 Planning Lead, I:
Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons aligned with international curricula (including Edexcel)
Teach a wide range of learners, including EAL students and those with additional learning needs
Use data (such as CAT4 and formative assessments) to identify learning gaps and provide targeted support
Focus on building strong foundations in reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills
Consistently receive outstanding feedback for student engagement and questioning techniques
Previously, as an Academic Coordinator, I:
Led curriculum planning and ensured high-quality teaching standards across year groups
Conducted lesson observations and coached teachers to improve instructional practices
Designed professional development programs to enhance teaching and learning
Earlier in my career, I also worked as a Teacher Trainer and Secondary English Teacher, mentoring new teachers and supporting students in achieving strong academic outcomes.
This combination of classroom expertise and leadership experience allows me to understand student needs deeply and provide highly effective, structured, and supportive tutoring sessions.
Teaching Method
My teaching approach is student-centred, interactive, and highly personalised, especially suited for online learning.
1. Personalised Learning
I begin by identifying each student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. Based on this, I adapt lessons to ensure they are appropriately challenging yet achievable.
2. Strong Focus on Foundations
For Grades 3–10, I prioritise:
Reading comprehension skills
Grammar and sentence structure
Vocabulary development
Structured writing (paragraphs, essays, creative writing)
I use clear frameworks (such as PEEL/PETER) to help students organise their ideas confidently.
3. Interactive & Engaging Lessons
I ensure lessons are not passive. I use:
Questioning techniques to develop critical thinking
Discussion and real-life connections
Short tasks and activities to maintain engagement
My lessons are known for high student participation and engagement.
4. Scaffolded Support
I break down complex tasks into simple, manageable steps. This is especially helpful for:
Younger learners
Students who lack confidence
EAL learners
Gradually, I reduce support to build independence.
5. Continuous Assessment & Feedback
I regularly assess students through:
Quick quizzes
Writing tasks
Verbal responses
I provide immediate, constructive feedback so students know exactly how to improve.
6. Confidence Building
A key part of my teaching is helping students feel confident. I create a safe and encouraging environment where mistakes are part of learning.
